Stay near the trailheads

One place, and it is the reason this site exists.

Sherpa Camp sits at 1,800 feet under Potato Patch Mountain, on Holly Creek, on the western edge of the Cohutta Wilderness. It is about 25 minutes from Ellijay, an hour and fifteen from Chattanooga, and an hour and forty five from Atlanta. The road in is gravel, and cell service ends before the cabin does.

The cabin sleeps five: a king bed in the loft, a bunk room for three, one bathroom. There is a full kitchen, a propane fireplace, a covered porch with rocking chairs, an outdoor deck, and a grill. Starlink covers the internet. Pick up a bundle of local firewood on the way in. A s'mores kit waits for the first night.

Jacks River, Lake Conasauga, Bear Creek, and Emery Creek Falls are all close. So is Mulberry Gap, the mountain bike basecamp, and Fort Mountain State Park.
