Trail Segments
A satisfying day hike combining the Fire Tower Trail with a ridge connector for a 10-mile loop with panoramic views from the historic fire lookout tower. This is one of the best day hikes in the Cohutta region for those not ready for the wilderness river trails.
The loop climbs to the fire tower via the main trail, then returns via a ridge connector through open hardwood forest. The tower views extend across the Cohutta Wilderness to the north and Fort Mountain to the south.
Safety Notes
The tower is open to visitors but climb at your own risk. The ridge is exposed to lightning — descend immediately if thunderstorms approach.
